Aircraft Weight & Balance Calculator

Works for virtually any aircraft — enter your own weights, stations, limits, and envelope manually, or start from an optional reference profile. PASSCARs performs the calculations: total weight, moment, CG, %MAC, ZFW/TOW/LW, fuel-burn CG shift, limit violations, and envelope position.

1. Setup Source

Enter every value yourself — works for any aircraft, with no built-in profile required.

2. Aircraft Details

Verify aircraft loading, CG and applicable operating limits before flight.

Indicates Canadian AME maintenance-rating applicability (M1 or M2) — not an aircraft weight category, and it does not change the calculation below.

Only changes which optional sections are shown below — the calculation is unaffected.

Aircraft identity (optional)

For your own reference only — this does not look up or apply any aircraft-specific data.

3. Aircraft W&B Data

Units, moment index, structural limits, LEMAC/MAC, and the CG envelope boundary — enter these yourself, or apply a reference profile above and adjust as needed.

Structural Limits (optional)

%MAC reference (optional)

CG Envelope (optional)

Enter the boundary of your own CG envelope as an ordered list of points (weight, CG). At least 3 points are needed to evaluate ZFW/TOW/LW against it. Points are user-entered — no real aircraft envelope is included.

CG Envelope Plot

Envelope Plot

Add at least 3 envelope points and enter loading data to plot the CG envelope.

Operating Limits (optional)

How is this calculated?
  • Moment = Weight × Arm
  • Total Weight = sum of all item weights
  • Total Moment = sum of all moments
  • CG = Total Moment ÷ Total Weight
  • % MAC = ((CG − LEMAC) ÷ MAC) × 100

Moving weight farther from the datum — in either direction — increases the magnitude of its moment, which shifts the loaded CG toward that item.

For the regulatory background on weight and balance responsibilities, see the Weight and Balance lesson in your course.

PASSCARs performs the calculations. Aircraft-specific weights, stations, limits and envelope data must be taken from the current approved documentation for the specific aircraft and configuration.
